An electrical problem was the cause of Wednesday's house fire on 27th Ave in Vernon.Fire inspector Dean Wakefield says an expert looked over the scene and determined it started by accident on an outside deck.
He says there was at least 80-thousand dollars damage to century old heritage brick house that was moved to the site in 1968.
Larry and Sue Steele, who were renting the house, are being provided a few days accommodation under the emergency services program.
They didn't have content insurance and a trust account to help them out is accepting donations at Vantage One Financial locations.
While the Steele's got out safely, there were some scary moments as Larry had to pull Sue,who recently had surgery, out of a bedroom window, with the flames getting close.
Several pet birds and cats perished.
