World Cup Craziness!!

'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I'm very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'~ Bill Shankly (English soccer manager). This quote pretty much sums up my feelings towards the World Cup. Its all about the passion. I am definitely a fan! In todays blog...some thoughts on the beautiful game being played in South Africa.
WORLD CUP CRAZINESS!! - I will blow my Vuvuzela and no one can STOP me!
Ok...once again I need to make it clear...I am not one to flip on an early Saturday morning match, or even haul my carcass down to the local pitch to watch any level of soccer...but when it comes to the World Cup I am a fan. There is nothing better than getting caught up in the 'Fan'-demonium that the rest of the world has when it comes to 'footy. I can't remember another sporting event like the USA-England match, that drew as much interest and commentary from not just the Brits and Yanks but also from across the globe. Heck it was one of the first games in a long time, that I booked off from the family...poured myself a cool one and watched from start to finish. Loved it. However have to feel bad for Rob Green the English tender who blew an easy save and became the whipping post for every English fan from here to Tottenham. In fact here are some of the jokes from around the globe.
* Before he got into football, Robert Green was a bus driver. But he got fired because he couldn't make any stops.
* Robert Green has just been refused a Savings Account in his Local Bank
* At least that's one British spillage the Americans won't be moaning about...
* All these Rob Green jokes are getting out of hand...In fact they're crossing the line
* Kermit was right: It's not easy being Green.
* The England lads had a get-together after the game and bought Robert Green a drink to commiserate. He spilled it.
* Steven Gerrard said: "The whole team is behind Rob Green." With hindsight, that's a good place to stand.
The other big story out of the 2010 World Cup is the vuvuzela. The constant droning of the vuvuzela - the traditional South African horn that has been a permanent backdrop to this tournament - is becoming such an annoyance to fans, players and television viewers that soccer's governing body might consider drastic action. Yet FIFA president Sepp Blatter said today that they will not address the horns...and that the South African faithful have a right to cheer how they see fit.
